REAL-TIME LOCATION SYSTEM (RTLS)
How it works?
- Interaction: Between tags (attached to objects) and anchors (stationary devices).
- Location: Signals between tags and anchors determine the precise location of objects.
- Location Engine: Processes and analyzes data to calculate the position of objects.
- Optimization: Data analysis improves the efficiency of logistics, production, and personnel management processes.
TECHNOLOGIES USED
Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Technology
The Litum RTLS system uses Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology for precise real-time object localization.
Key aspects of UWB technology:
- A short-range radio technology that uses a very wide range of frequencies.
- Provides high localization accuracy, often at the centimeter level.
- It is resistant to interference, which is crucial in industrial environments.
- Objects to be tracked are equipped with special markers (tags).
- These markers send signals to receivers that are placed in the monitored area.
- The receivers process the signals and calculate the exact position of the objects.
- Location data is then sent to software that visualizes and analyzes this information.
RFID Technology
In the Litum RTLS system, RFID technology plays a complementary role, supporting the main localization functions based on Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology.We distinguish between active tags (with their own power supply) and passive tags (without their own power supply):
- Active RFID tags are used for tracking objects over larger areas where a greater reading range is required.
- Passive RFID tags have a limited reading range and are used for identifying objects in specific zones.
Here are the key applications of RFID in this context:
Asset identification and tracking: RFID enables quick and automatic identification of objects, which are then tracked by the RTLS system. It facilitates inventory and asset management in warehouses, construction sites, or other industrial environments. It also allows for real-time recording of item movements.
